After a volcanic eruption which happened long time ago, hard thrust from beneath the earth was brought to the surface, thus making the loamy soil invisible and obtaining soil to make bricks unenviable. Virunga Integrated Development program oversees the refurbishment of the local population houses for the vulnerable citizens residing on the slopes of the volcanoes, by providing them financial assistance to help them build strong houses, toilets and clay stoves.
In addition, buying clay in this volcanic area is very expensive, and reason why some houses and toilets are built with tree stems and mud. For helping the vulnerable people, we will do a community work to help them complete their houses and toilets. With advocacy we welcome those interested to help our local community conserve nature and protect wildlife for it discourages human- wildlife conflict lest locals will enter the park in search of local building materials.
