The Virunga bee-Keeping Community Programs aim to help bee-keepers in the Virunga massif to establish cooperatives and viable business plans in line with honey. We organize education programs to promote sustainability of bee-keeping and significance of environmental conservation. It also aims to offer useful guidelines on the proper use of pesticides and use of these pesticides on farms that may not harm the bees.
Local community will be educated on advantages of modern beehives and to be helped in marketing their products both locally and internationally. Virunga Community Programs will mobilize local community to keep bees out of protective areas like games reserves, forests and national parks in order to prevent frequent fire outbreaks as a result of bee harvesting in these areas.
