In several developing countries, particularly in Africa, many farmers still practice conventional farming methods. Organic farming reward farmers by adopting environment-friendly practices. The integration of agro forestry in organic production is rare. Consequently, this creates some significant opportunity for researchers to help farmers in Virunga area through this strategy. The Virunga Community Programs will strive to supply farmers with farm inputs like agro-chemicals and organic fertilizers, and help in boosting agricultural productivity.
Research institutions, individual researchers and other stakeholders are all encouraged to engage in organic agro-forestry research in Virunga region to boost food production instead of over depending on forest and natural resources as the only source of their livelihood. We also welcome volunteers to be actively involved in the vital research capacity in the organic agro-forestry.
